A Tribute to Mary Glidden

Mary Glidden

Family, Friends and Colleagues:

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Mary M. Glidden, my mother and the founder of Medical Rehabilitation Consultants.  Mary passed away Wednesday evening, June 30th, 2004 after a short battle with lung cancer.  She was surrounded by her family at home.

Mary started Medical Rehabilitation Consultants in 1987.  This was the best way she felt she could use her medical knowledge and talents to help others with catastrophic injuries and illnesses.  Her work experience had been diverse and included critical care, orthopedics, burn trauma, emergency room, medical/surgical, industrial first aid, EMT, alcohol abuse and treatment, juvenile medical assessment and care, rehabilitation - specializing in head and spinal cord injuries, geriatrics, medical consulting, legal nurse consulting and expert witness.  Medical Rehabilitation Consultants is a growing success and will continue as part of her legacy.  She was a member of numerous professional and military organizations and was very proud of her many hard-earned credentials.

In 1975 she joined the United States Army Reserves.  In 1990-1991 she proudly served the United States in active duty for the Army in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield and Desert Storm as an Intelligence and Operations Officer.  She retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2003.

Mary was very energetic and loved life, living each day to the fullest with an adventurous spirit.  Her many interests and passions included: being with her family, gardening, family campouts, cooking, wine, travel, snow skiing, Christmas, reading, dancing, and helping others.  Her most important joy was her grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, 1004 East 8th, Spokane, Washington  99202.

The University of Florida and MediPro Seminars has initiated a full scholarship for the Life Care Planning & Catastrophic Management Program in Mary’s name.

She will be missed.
